Upcoming shows and events!

A special treat awaits fans of music, summer and wine: The amazing, heralded, fabulous Bic Runga will perform in a stunning location on Waiheke Island, with a backdrop of pohutukawa trees, contoured hillsides and tree-lined bays. Backed by her supercool band, Bic’s huge repertoire of songs will offer an evening of well-known favourites and gems.

Bic is honoured to be supported by one of New Zealand's finest songwriters, multi-award-winning artist Lawrence Arabia, who delivers wry observations of contemporary life in deftly arranged pop vignettes. For this special performance, Lawrence Arabia will perform solo.

Goldie Vineyards is Waiheke’s oldest winery, looking out across Putiki Bay and the Hauraki Gulf. Its gorgeous terrain offers an intimate outdoor concert setting, surrounded by established vines.

Gates open at 3:00pm to allow people to arrive early, partake in food and drink, and get situated on the grass. This event will be relaxed and chill, Waiheke styles. It will truly be an evening to remember: the apex of summer holidays!

Internationally celebrated musician Estère performs at Ostend War Memorial Hall on Saturday the 8th of December, her one show on Waiheke Island. Bringing her unique blend of melody, rhythm, samples and loops, Estère will arrive on the island fresh from her second European festival tour, this year. Estère's rich elastic voice and punchy melodies ride atop thick bass and weighty drums, textured with organic acoustic samples and electronic pulses. She calls her music Electric Blue Witch Hop, defying genre, seamlessly blending together soul and indie, hip hop and jazz, her musical layers shuffling between pop sensibility and African beats. Estère was fittingly called on to open for Grace Jones, John Cale and Erykah Badu, holding her own and impressing audiences at every turn. Estère has performed at festivals across the globe, a sampling of which are Glastonbury (UK), Bushfire Festival (Manzini, Swaziland), Botanique (Brussels), Sori International Music Festival (Jeonju South Korea), Aarhus International Festival (Denmark); and closer to home, WOMAD, Rhythm & Vines, Rhythm & Alps and more. She has also headlined international shows in and amongst the festivals, as well as collaborating with an impressive assortment of artists (Jon Toogood, Oddissee (Washington, DC), Raiza Biza) and requests for live performance vocal cameos (Bic Runga). Accompanying Estère on stage will be her supercool all-female band; she will be supported by local legend Nikki Ngatai, who may or may not be wielding her roller skates, but will most definitely be impressing punters with her gorgeous vocals, guitar and loops. My Design On Other's Lives is “...a unique collection of genres, sounds and ideas and is something unlike anything I've heard out of New Zealand - or anywhere, for that matter. It is singularly Estère, and a treat to explore.” - New Zealand Herald, 18 May, 2018 Tickets on sale now through www.undertheradar.co.nz www.esteremusic.com www.susiesays.co.nz www.oyawa.bandcamp.com
