Susie Says! can't wait to bring
Tami Neilson to Waiheke Island on
27th December 2023!

A special Christmas holidays afternoon on Waiheke Island with Tami Neilson and her Hot Rockin’ Band of Rhythm, and Waiheke's own Americana duo, Dollface, opening the show!

Award-winning country soul singer-songwriter Tami Neilson and her Hot Rockin’ Band of Rhythm are set to entertain a vineyard full of holiday making concertgoers at Goldie Estate on Dec 27th.

For more than a decade, Tami Neilson has been queen of New Zealand's country music scene, with countless accolades and achievements to her name, including six New Zealand Best Country Album Awards, three Best Country Song Awards, the prestigious APRA Silver Scroll for excellence in songwriting and a Grammy Award nomination for her most recent record, Kingmaker.

She has also built up a loyal fan base who know they're guaranteed one hell of a show when it comes to her live performances, and that's certainly what's in store for the event at Goldie Estate.

“The Kiwi queen remains an imperious talent.”  Neil Spencer, The Guardian

“Neilson is at the forefront of the women who are taking back country music. This is the Album of the Year.”  No Depression

“Vocals with the swagger of a feral Peggy Lee. Immensely touching.” Mojo - 4 Stars

Waiheke duo Dollface are an Americana powerhouse, beloved to local audiences on the island.

In 2016, Katy Soljak and George Gardner found synergy in their songwriting and love for country/Americana music, and thus Dollface was born. Their melodic harmonies, backed by twin guitars, are a treat on any stage.

“We call it Americana,” says Soljak. “We’re a bit bluesy, country and a little bit jazzy at times, with a few harmonies and George’s blues harp thrown in.” Gardner says, “We’re excited to be opening for Tami - we’re huge fans! And Goldie is a fantastic venue for live music.”

Catch them warming up the stage for Tami on 27th December!

Goldie Estate is Waiheke's pioneering boutique vineyard and winery, and has a long history of producing iconic, award-winning wines.

Goldie Estate is nestled amongst 30 acres of native bush and rolling vineyards on Waiheke Island overlooking Putiki Bay. It’s here that we create handcrafted wines full of character that draw on the knowledge and experience of Kim and Jeanette Goldwater, who founded winegrowing on Waiheke in 1978.

Our commercial team, led by Heinrich Storm, continue their philosophy of nurturing and continually improving our established vineyards. Our Waiheke vineyard produces Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Syrah, Chardonnay and Viognier varieties.

The Estate is also home to the University of Auckland’s Wine Science Centre, which aims to continue the innovative spirit of the Goldwater family. The programme provides a unique learning experience for the students to be immersed in a fully operational winery.

TAMI NEILSON -  Biography

From being cradled as a baby in the arms of Roy Orbison, to performing a duet with Willie Nelson, you would think that Tami Neilson lived a country music fantasy life.

However, in between these monumental occurrences, The Neilson Family Band, with Tami’s parents, and two brothers, were having to busk in the streets of small town Ontario in order to put food on the table, performing gospel concerts to prisoners, and roaring down the Trans Canada Highway in an exploding RV on her way to open for Johnny Cash, which she managed to do, at 18 years old, in her pyjamas.

And then Tami left to start her own family on the other side of the world in New Zealand, where she now resides. Her busking chops served her well, as she took to the streets of Auckland looking for her big break. From open mic nights to clubs, to then headlining theatres and major festivals across New Zealand, Tami has now won almost every music award possible.

The story of Tami Neilson is just taking shape, from her humble beginnings and tireless work ethic, and success, on her own terms. Tami Neilson is now using her voice to be a game changer, a cage shaker, a Kingmaker.
